Geneology Ideas

My number one idea for the genealogy approach is to break down my favorite genre of music, hip-hop. Hip-hop truly consist of remixing, and sampling. I want to go through the components of hip-hop as well as all the legendary artist of this genre and how greatly they were influenced by other hip-hop artist as well as jazz, and pop. So I would break down what hip-hop is and break down the fact that copying/ remixing than transforming is a very big part.

My second idea since I am a huge twilight fan is to break down the genealogy of Twilight the movie vs the book. See what was copied, what was transformed and what was combined. A lot of people prefer the original texts (book) over the movie. Why is that? You would think that in being the movie creates more visual details that it would be the people favorites. So going into the twilight series will be my next idea.

Third idea for the genealogy is to find one of the most sampled songs throughout time and figure out why exactly that is. What components does that song have to make it such a classic? How did that song become so popular? What was changed as well as what remained the same? Going in depth with my research to find out why. How are people’s views when it comes to sampling? Is it good, bad, or neutral? This topic is more of a broad spectrum, so it would give me more information throughout my paper.
