Da'Vante Phillips
Growing up I have listened
to plenty of different genres of music Pop, Rock, Classic, Jazz, Reggae. Etc.
but the main genre I listened to and am still listening to until this day is
Hip-Hop R&B. I like hip hop, what I do like is more intelligent hip hop. Which
is not mainstream and when people think hip hop they think gangsta rap. If you
really listened to the old hip hop or current hip hop acts like, M.C. Hammer, Public
Enemy, Grandmaster Flash and the Jackson 5 you want be so quick to judge
hip hop music because it have less explicit lyrics and more meaning to it.
I think it will be awesome to do how the new
generation of hip hop takes copies of the old generation to make it more
extravagant and interesting. For example, Public Enemy made a song called “Bad
Behavior” which stated that they were getting money, clothes, cars, and basically
saying that people started loving them after a while of rapping. On the other
hand, Drake, the new generation of Hip Hop made a song called ‘Worst Behavior”
saying the exact thing but putting it in a way that the young people can relate
to.
Another idea I have is movies, how King Kong was a gigantic
gorilla that had a soft side for a beautiful girl and everybody thought he was
such a monster. Then there was “Beauty and The Beast “that have basically the
same meaning of the movie King Kong a beast falling in love with a human.
The last idea I have is cars, how back then the cars did not
have such a unique model but now that they move faster the engine built with
more explosiveness and worth much more.
