Remediated Dads

Idea One:
The targeted audience for this idea is preschool students. My plan was to recreate the TV dads as puppets as well as the TV show creators conversing with one another sharing ideas. I feel puppets would go well with preschoolers because they find them entertaining and bright colors  would probably catch their eye.

Idea Two:
The second target group are the Bahamian people. Junkanoo is an annual cultural event that attracts many Bahamians to spectate and cheer on their favorite group. my strategy was to create a lineage of bumbling TV Dads in the parade; possibly in chronological order record it and possibly narrate over it as it happens.

A typical themed costume.

Idea Three:
the third group of my remediation are people who enjoy adult television. my idea was to take different clips of pieces and edit over them with you voice.

Typical episode ofThe Simpsons

The stereotypical African-American dad.

  1. 1) While I'm definitely captivated by the idea of a puppet show, is the content of the essay appropriate for preschoolers. Are they going to be able to wrap their head around remix and assemblage, let alone the reasons why television fathers act the way they do? How would you navigate those problems in a puppet show for preschoolers?

    2) Okay, now this is really interesting. I think this is similar to the puppet idea, but the audience seems a lot more able to grasp the concepts presented. How would we be able to portray the idea of black television dads as assemblages via this medium? Is that why you want the voiceover??

    3) I'm fine with the idea of video and voice, but what would we be getting at? Just following the structure of your essay?
